The Acoustic Surf Tones is an acoustic group
performing surf/lounge music, including original instrumental tunes in the
styles of surf, western, exotica, and sci-fi. Guitars predominate, backed by
percussion, with some flute, sax, and vocals for added color. Based in Storrs,
CT, this group consists of Mike Rosado on lead guitar, Sandy Rosado on guitar,
flute, sax, and vocals, and a varied rhythm section that may consist of Edward Lee Ellis
and/or Ryan Tanner on African djembe and percussion, Ludent Tremmel on percussion,
and Paul Tanner on acoustic bass.
Mike has many years of experience fronting his original surf/rock band 9th Wave (http://www.9thwavesurf.com/), a popular regional act with four published recordings. Sandy is a classically trained composer and flutist as well as a singer/songwriter. She previously fronted her own original rock band, Not Too Shabby, and has been a member of 9th Wave since 2000. Ed, in addition to being a percussionist, is a surfer and works in theater design and set construction. Ludent is an extremely accomplished musician, with a number of his own projects such as GNO, many recordings under his belt, and credits as a recording engineer, guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist in addition to his percussion abilities. Paul and Ryan Tanner are a father/son team who play primarily with another CT surf band, The Crustaceans.
Many of the songs performed by The Acoustic Surf Tones are acoustic versions
of 9th Wave tunes. Others are classic surf tunes like The Hearse,
